The Dreamer

This piece is a visual representation of the act of reflection as encountered in the different forms of thinking or over-thinking, day-dreaming or contemplating… It is inspired by I. Mitoraj bronze sculpture “Luci di Nara” encountered at the B&E Goulandris collection in Athens.

Like a statue, discovered many centuries later, the enigmatic fragmanted mask merges Antiquity with Surrealism. Quiet and self-reflective, the posture of the figure conveys a mixed feeling of serenity with concern. The carrefully placed bas relief white pigeons seem like ideas and thoughts flying away and ignite the imaginery as the viewer wonders what the subject is thinking.

The composition blurs the spatio-temporal context echoing inner personal philosophies.
