Part of the series of paintings revolving around the visual symbol of the «Kouvari» (sphere of strings). This series is inspired by Greek mythology, used as paradigms for modern issues and interior questions that resonate till today. The visual representation of the «kouvari» is treated in different compositions around the theme of the human struggle presented through the powerful symbol of Sisyphos.
Sisyphos was punished by the Gods to roll an immense boulder up a hill only for it to roll back down every time it neared the top, repeating this action for eternity. He represents the human’s soul’s perpetual battle against futility and despair. The sphere is more than a burden; it is a spiritual weight that represents the responsibilities and mental burdens we carry through life. While it may appear to be voluminous, the ribbons subtly remind us that it only takes the simplest of mindful actions to start unravelling these burdens. The act of unravelling has also a temporal and spiritual dimension in it, as it marks the passage of time.
